Version info???
I have an AximX5 that has done a really good job for years.
Now, I got a Vista laptop (Toshiba), and it can't find the X5 for syncing (even though it does show up in "my computer", and I can browse all of the files, etc.)
Everything I find says Vista needs 2003 on the PPC in order to sync. I thought I had that, but can't find the operating system information.
Can anyone tell me how to identify the operating system?
Here is what I can find, so far:
When I go to “start” “settings” “system” “system information”, I find:
Model Dell Axim X5
Processor type Intel Xscale
Processor speed 400MHZ
RAM size 64MB
ROM size 48MB
ROM version A05 (07170300EN)
Language English
UUID A4002B66A4CDFD138000050BFE45CE5
When I go to “settings” “about” I find:
Microsoft Pocket PC
Version 4.20.1081 (Build 13100)
1986-2003 Microsoft Corporation
Thanks for any help.

Cliff, if you have ROM A05 then you are using WM2003. There have been mixed experiences with Vista and the X5 if you search around, so it does work for some people. Are you using the latest version of WMDC, I beleive 6.1?

One more question...
Thanks a lot. I downloaded the latest WMDC, reset my Axim X5, and it worked.
Now...one more question. It insisted that I make Outlook my default program for email, tasks, notes, etc. Do you know of any way I can get it to sync with my Axim using Windows Mail?
Thanks.

What is the problem with syncing your mail? Is the option not in WMDC? Do you receive an error?

I only sync my tasks, calendar, notes and contacts. When I set up the partnership, WMDC instructed me to make Outlook my default, and I have been unable to figure out how to get it to use Windows Mail instead. In fact, Mail appears to deal differently with all of these items. I guess I will just keep my Outlook around and use it for keeping the Axim up to date. Vista also doesn't let me move my old messages from Outlook to Mail (at least it doesn't work using import/export). I guess I will eventually figure Vista out.
Thanks again for the help.
