The screen under system info is what shows the cpu speed and ram, the 300 only has 32 megs of ram. That is how I would determine if it is 300 or 400. The pic on the auction shows 300 mhz..if what he's saying is true according to the article all he would have to do is hard reset the device, to get a true 400 mhz reading. Then he could take a picture, and his auction would definately go for a lot higher. I think I would ask him to do that if you're dead set on getting an advanced model just to be 100% certain. I think I'd also try to find an X5 with ppc2003 (A05), you can upgrade that yourself but it's hard to find the upgrade, (which after a lot of looking I think I have somewhere on this comp)..
I own both and the reasoning that only the 400 came with a cradle doesn't mean its a 400, maybe the original owner bought a cradle because he was tired of the sync and charge cables. Though he is right the 300 came with a usb cable and a seperate charge cable. I dunno perhaps I'm being overly skeptical, but that line of reasoning doesn't make sense to me...
Really the 400 is only a tick faster than the 300, but the main performance difference imho is the ram, I have both setup the same way and with the 400 I have almost 40 megs of ram free, with the 300 only about 14 megs of ram free. That may not seem like a big deal, but I'm the type of person who likes to have mp3s playing, picture viewer, aim, ebooks, and browser going at the same time and the 400 does that great, the 300 I can only open a couple things at once...Of course with software you can oc the 300 to 400 and the 400 to 472..
The X5 has no integrated wifi or bluetooth, you'll need a cf wifi card for that as the sd slot doesn't support sdio cards either. Hope that helps you out.
