Programs on SD Disappeared?!
This morning I go to run mobipocket and it can't find it! I look on the sd card and all the programs are gone. There are 2 files with weird characters, one that is 784m in size. Documents are there still but programs are not.
It has not been dropped. I was not on the net recently. Yesterday it was all working fine. No excessive heat exposure, etc. I reset it and pulled and reinserted the card. It also was not full.
Otherwise it seems to be working fine.
Any idea what happened and if it can be fixed? Can the card be reformatted? Ugh.... And how do I do that?

Are you saying, all of the files on your SD card disappeared? How full was it? How old is it? Have you installed any new apps? Have you run a complete backup recently?

Nope no new installations. I've had the sd card a few years I guess. It was not full. As I said, yesterday it was running fine.
I was able to reinstall applications - when I did that it said they were already there and I did the reinstall. I install all applications on the sd card.
I can not delete the 784m goofy file tho. It's like it munched them all into that file.
Only programs "disappeared". All of my documents that I keep on it were still there. Pocket Word and Excel are probably on main memory so werent' affected.
Sigh - looks like I'll have to wipe and reformat to reclaim the space. Doesn't look like I lost anything painful.
How do you format a sd card?

VERY ODD! Before when I looked at the sd card in activesync all the folders with programs were gone. After I reinstalled mobipocket reader and a movie player and a couple of games, I can see them all.
Still got the 784m file tho I need to get rid.
How is that even possible? It's a 256mb card. :O

If you can, try the SD card in a card reader (printer, camera hooked up to the computer if you don't have one) and browse it as a drive to check for the file. Also you could try a chkdsk /r on it.
If nothing else works, the problem may lie with ActiveSync. You could delete the profiles on the PC and the Axim or try reinstalling 4.5.

Can't delete them or rename them via a card reader, activesync, or on the unit itself. The only way I think I am going to get rid of them is to wipe the card. sigh. might as well if i have to reinstall everything anyway.
Uploaded an image of the files as I see them on file explorer thru a card reader.
How do I format the card?

You should be able to format the card through your card reader, make sure you format FAT 16 or FAT 32[preferred]. You can also format the card in the axim using Pocket Mechanic. You can download a trial here at Wizcode

Ive had this happen before, especially after moving data onto the sd card..I don't know if our situation is the same, but I found that if I removed the sd card and reinserted it, it would be fine...

I did remove and reinsert to put it in a card reader, so.... was worth a shot tho.
Got to the city planning to drive around looking for houses and no gps! Forgot I needed to reinstall everything. What a pain in the rear map reading was! sigh
