X-5 and Symbol LA-4137 hell
Hi all. New user here and it's nice to be here I just bought a Symbol wireless card for the Axim and nothing I can do is fixing it. I have been networking for 7 years and nothing has ever been this tough. My router is configured properly and I am out of ideas, so I was hoping someone could help me. I downloaded the Symbol Mobile Companion 3.9.2 utility and the setup went well. It does see other networks, but DHCP cannot or will not get an IP address. I have also been to 3 other places where there are public networks just to see if it was my router and it wouldn't connect. A message pops up all the time saying " Unable to obtain a server assigned IP address. Try again later or enter an IP address in network settings". I am running WM 2003 bought off Ebay.
I would so appreciate ANY advice in getting this setup and working. Thank you so much and it's nice to be here.

Welcome to the site Patrick.
Try this fix- it was made for the same problem in WM5 but might work in 2003.
If it doesn't work, I would suggest hard resetting the X5, installing the CF timing update from Dell, then iinstalling only the Symbol software. If that doesn't work, the card may be faulty.

Thank you so much for the warm welcome and the advise. It appears that key doesn't exist on my machine. My computer is running XP and I own a Dell Axim X-5. Not sure if all that matters. I am now looking for another key that might have that info, but as of yet no such luck.

the registry key is on the axim, you can use a free app like PHM regedit to explore the axims registry.

Well, now I can't get the reg editor to install and work. No wonder they stopped selling these damn things. Nothing works on them. Everytime I install the reg editor, it pops up the active syn like it's going to install the program, but the reg editor is listed nowhere on the list. Any more idea's? I'm so sorry to burden everyone.

Hey, you need to download the regeditor as a .cab file, copy it to a folder on the axim where you can find it and then navigate to the file on the ax and tap on it to install.
