X5 and TomTom freezing
Hi
On Tomtom 5 the program stalls at the address input icon and advanced planning icon, a soft reset does not rectify problem, and neither does a hard reset. I seemed to have tried all sorts. I am at thepoint of selling the x5 and opting for a more expensive version, which I don't really want to do. Can someone please help.

Hi Drawllimuk,
I used tomtom 5 for quite a long time before I upgraded to 6. I didn't have any problems with freezing.
I'm wondering if the problem might be with your data. Perhaps try a format of the memory card and reload the maps?
Jeremy.

Just to eliminate the card, do you have a different memory card SD or CF you can try? Perhaps try a smaller regional map if you can?

Good ideas exousir. drawllimuk, have you tried reinstalling TomTom? It sounds like your software has corrupted somehow. You should also check for ROM updates, are you at A04 or A05?

From Memory TomTom 5 can give problems with some cards.
Are you using CF or SD cards. If CF cards, make sure you have installed the CF timing patch which can be downloaded from Dell.
If an SD card. Is it by anychance a 128MB card ??. I've experienced these symptoms with 128MB cards in x5's before. The solution is to upgrade to a 256MB card preferably of a different make.
OH and of course your version of TT5 is legal ???. If now we have no way of identifying the problem

Awww Cr@p!
Woah...
Time flies... Sorry Drifter. Yep, my TomTom is legal. I only really want the PDA for satnav. As many people have it working here, I refuse to go out and buy a new PDA or The TomTom units! Still Having issues with it freezing. Maybe it's time to go back to the drawing board.....

Well here's an interesting development.... I re-installed TomTom and this time chose the wired GPS and the system doesn't freeze at all. Now all I have to do is get the bluetooth side working properly....
