WM2005 with skype -- difficulties

If anyone has successfully gotten their X5 to work with skype, I would love to hear more. I have a d-link DCF-660W 802-11.b card which has worked fine with PPC2002 and also since I upgraded to WM2003. I have the most recent drivers for the card. I downloaded the latest skype (claiming to work with X5 it is version 2.1.0.66. the test call seems to work fine. But any call I attempt to make has little to no audio. I have hear bits and pieces of conversation and this is on either end of the connection. I tried the audio driver update and it made no difference either. I have set the speed of the X5 to auto. I am stumped. Does anybody have suggestions?

Check the file you download to make sure it's Compatible.

For LOW CPU's:
SypeForPocketPC_LowCPU_Beta 2-2-0-20

For HIGH CPU's 624mhz
SkypeForPocketPC_Beta


For the X51v I had to use the High CPU version, - both worked...
However the LowCPU version KEYPAD would not work correctly.

Skype is a huge program and needs allot of power and memory to run correctly.
I had a PPC-6700 as well that ran less than 450mhz and Skype totally controlled the device when it ran.
It worked, but you couldn't do anything else while it was running. With the X51v - I'm running 2 bible programs,
POP3 emails, RSS feeds and a media player with success which is nice. It's not always crystal clear voice passage
but, it's managable. Remember it's Voice over IP - which still needs some work to be like a reg. phone call.

Please remember that I have an OLD PDA. The X5 (400Mhz) version. I can't tell what the memory usage is while Skype is active. There appeared to be only one choice to download from them. The claim was that it was tested on X5 and it worked. For some reason, audio is a problem. Could be processing speed, could be audio driver, could be the wireless card, Don't know how to determine what is happening.

Thank you very much. This does seem to improve the quality. Not excellant but does appear to work.
