Vista Mobile Device Center not recognizing my X5
I swear I wrote a long explanation of my problem last night, but it's nowhere to be found. Any chance anyone else has the issue with the Axim X5 not being recognized by the Mobile Device Center?
I can search the files on it, move files etc, but I can't sync anything. I've un- and re-installed Mobile 2003 twice. Un- and re-installed Mobile device center at least 4 times. Reinstalled Outlook 3 times. Checked for errors in each Outlook install with no issues. I've turned off all firewalls, spyware, and anti-virus while doing this. I've spent about 24 of the last 72 hours fraking with this and I'm about to destroy both Vista and the X5.
Help!

Your problem sounds very similar to the problems this user was having, see thread microsoft garbage and also have a look at this microsoft WMDC page might find something there. HTH

Thanks. The first didn't really apply to my issue and the second one covered everything I had already done.
I think the issue may be that I only have Outlook 2002. Its stupid, frankly, that the Mobile 2003 disk comes with Outlook 2002. Someone in marketing probably got a promotion for that one.
Is there any other way to sync my information- contacts, calendar etc. -other than spending $120 on a new Outlook program?

Cool, when you mentioned OL2002 I went and had a bit of a search, for me the jury is out. This link http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/wiki/tiki...p?page=WMDC&bl says it's OK, but then, http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/faqs/wmdc/prerequisites.htm

Sync will not happen
My new Dell Inspiron 1501 and my Aximx51v do not sync. The same applies to my axim 5. I have been told that Microsoft Outlook 2002 is incompatible with Vista and that I may either buy MS Outlook 2003, 2007, switch to using MS Works Suite that originally came with my Dell, or that I go back to XP. Either that or wait for a patch.
So I decided to download Office 2007 Standard [Trial], which includes Outlook 2007. Guess What! It says it syncs, but doesn’t transfer information. Dell support says I need a patch in both cases, which they don’t have yet! :argue:
Any solutions yet?

Windows Vista Update for Windows Media Player 11 and Windows Mobile 5
Not sure if this will help, but thought I'd share what I found:
Windows Vista Update for Windows Media Player 11 and Windows Mobile 5
Found in:Mobile News, updates, Multimedia, WM5,
In case you are a Windows Mobile 5 user on desktop Windows Vista, you may have experienced problems wile trying to set up your storage card on the device to synchronize with Windows Media Player 11. Microsoft has issued an update (via Windows Update) to address the issue, so check it out and don’t miss the chance to dissolve such future bugs.
Now, with the fix Microsoft describes in the Knowledge Base article 931621 and which is distributed via Windows Update now, Microsoft solves this problem.
