BSOD on soft reboot, new dll installed (bad)
Help!
Recently purchsed Hawking CF/WiFi card (CF100W HBMT); installed drivers, inserted card, got "Unrecognized card in reader. Please enter name of card driver" error message. Downloaded iPaQ "fix" (per Belkin, their drivers) - download overwrote dll (my bad, won't repeat this mistake). Now my X5 display does not work, but ActiveSync does (I can "see" the X5 on my laptop). When soft reboot is done now, all I get is the Dell insignia blue screen...
Any suggestions on how to get the display to work again? I'm at a loss, any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Got unit working by doing hard reset. Now functional (but I have to reload all my stuff, not so good). Reloaded the Pocket PC 2000 drivers but...
Still get error message when trying to connect my WiFi CF card:
"Unrecognized card. Enter the name of the device driver for this card. For information, see manufacturer's documentation."
Any thoughts/suggestions? I'd like to get this to work, but don't know how to proceed.
Thanks,
REisenhardt

What OS are you running? Pocket PC 2002 or Pocket PC 2003 (ROM A05)?
You may need to run 2003 for the card to be compatible. Make sure that the drivers you downloaded are for PPC2002 if you have ROM A01-A04 or PPC2003 if you have ROM A05.

System tells me it is Pocket PC Version 3.0. - not sure what this means. I believe I have ROM A05 since it shows 63.45 MB of memory.
Again, any help is most appreciated.
Thank you,

The memory size does not really inform you what ROm is running. You need to check via Start>Settings>System> System Information ( or about). This will tell you the ROM version.
If it is A00-A04, then you are using CE2002 (PPC2002), if it is A05 then you are using CE2003 ( PPC2003). Your second posting discussed loadeing PPC2000 drivers ???. You need to make sure you load the correct drivers for your system ( ie 2002 drivers for PPC2002 or ROM A00-A04 etc). If you load the wrong drivers then you can get problems like you describe.

System information:
Pocket PC Version 3.0.11171 (Build 11178)
Intel PXA250 processor
63.45 MB
No other pertinent information that I can see
Removed CF card, soft reboot
Loaded PPC2003, soft reboot
Installed card - same error, Unrecognized card. WL1100x program not in Programs menu
Removed program from memorry, soft reboot
Loaded PPC2002, soft reboot
Installed card - same error, Unrecognized card. WL1100x progam is, however, in the Programs menu. When I try to run the program, it tells me "Can not run the application, please insert your 802.11b wireless CF card" even though the card is in the PDA.

There were many bugfixes introduced in each ROM version. Check the "Are you looking for the WM 2003 upgrade?" thread for instructions on upgrading your X5 to PPC2003.

PPC2003 Upgrade
All
Thanks to Mahstah for the OS operating system upgrade; went well, now running A05.
However...
When I use ActiveSync now, I get:
"An incompatible version of Microsoft ActivSyn software has been detected. Synchronization has been disabled. Upgrade ActiveSync on your desktop computer and reconnect."
Any leads on how/where to upgrade my current ActiveSync version?
Thanks,
Randy
