Get Total Commander: - Go to \\\registry\HKLM\System\StorageManager\AutoLoad\PS M
- Open the key "Dll" by "double-tapping" the file
- Change its 'String value' to "PSMFSD.dll.xxx" and press OK
- Close Total Commander
Soft reset your device and the BIS has 'disappeared'. Now start TomTom and everything works as it should.
(I've installed TomTom directly on my device and the maps on a SD-card...)

I have tried it yesterday and it works fine. You need to edit the Registry of the Axim X5. Get Total Commander from
http://www.ghisler.com/pocketpc.htm
Download file tcmdpocketarm, and run it on your PC. This will install it on your PDA. The program does not come with an instruction manual, but it's easy to operate. Double-click the Total Commander icon in the Axim's Programs folder. The initial screen shows a list of folders, and the top folder is '\\'. Open this folder and follow Carlob's instructions above.
Keep in mind that editing the Registry could be potentially dangerous to the health of your PDA. Do not make any other changes than the one described by Carlob.
Good luck!
