    trouble upgrading to 2003

When I try to upgrade from ROM version A02(03050300) to ROM version A05(07170300EN) the upgrade programme tells me it can't upgrade because its a different language version. Sure enough the Current System Info doesn't say what language it is, but the ROM update says its the English version. Does anyone know whats happening here?

Unfortunately, if you are using the CD upgrade route, the first step is to check the installed language against the version being installed and if it is different, the process will stop. Thier is now way of changing this.

However, you may wish to use the alternative method of upgrading which will overwrite any differnce in language and is used by many people to upgrade to English A05.

First you need a blank CF card ( SD will not work), minimum size 64MB

In the software you have , locate the files

    P25_NK_H_07170300EN and P25_NK_L_07170300EN

If you have a 300 Mhz unit , copy the L version to the CF card, if you have a 400Mhz, copy the H version.

Plug in the mains adapter and plug in the CF card.

This is difficult and may need a few attempts,

Press and hold Power, Contacts, Scroll in and reset and hold for 5 seconds. Release Power and reset but hold the other 2 buttons for 15 seconds, then release. A05 will then load.

Scroll in = the toggle switch on the left side which should be pressed in

    Good luck

Thumbs up will a 32mb do?

Thanks Drifter for the advice. I just had to make sure it was the right file. Would a 32mb CF card do the job? As the file is only 25.5mb.

Hi, yes, ik you can get the file on the card.

I normally suggest a 64MB cards as this gives a little working space, but a 32MB card is ok. Once you have upgraded, you can obviously wipe and reuse the card.

check the format of the CF card, it should be fat, fat 16, or fat32, if you have used the card in a camera this could sometimes be different.

How are you trying to put the files on the CF card. from a PC via a card reader? or directly transfering them to the axim CF card from the PC? With the current PC OS and axim OS are you syncing?

Both ways, i formatted the card in a pc then transfered the file, also formatted it in the Axim with Flash format and the transfered onto the CF card in the whilst it was in the Axim from the pc.
