Welcome to aximusers.
When you discuss upgrading the memory, I assume you mean via a plug in card .. It is not really worth upgrading the internal memory.
To upgrade the memory via a plug in card, you jusr need to buy either a compact flash or Secure Digital card and plug it in. It makes no difference which one you buy or how large or small. JUst do not be tempted to buy combined memory and WiFi cards, they will give problems.
Personally, I would suggest a secure digital card. Sometimes if you use Compact Flash cards, you will have to install a timing upgrade that is downloaded from Dell.
Yes, you can download mp3's and video and watch it on the X5, but for video, you will need to have additional software and also a program to convert video's to a format that will work on your X5. This is not free
Finally, you will need to buy a WiFi card.. Just make sure that you buy one with drivers for PPC2002 and 2003. Ebay is normally a good place for these. Again I would personally choose a Compact flash WiFi card so that it will work with your new SD memory cards.
