Corrupt Activesync on X5

i cannot start activesync on my Axim X5. the connection has been working fine until a few days ago. i have reinstalled activesync 3.8 on my computer with no luck. i installed 4.1 with no luck.

my computer recognizes the X5 in device manager, but just won't connect to activesync.

i've noticed that when i plug the X5 in the cradle, the activesync program on the X5 seems like it's starting up in the task bar on top then disappears.

i took the X5 out of the cradle and tried to start activesync from the start up menu on the X5 with the same results. i've look under programs and it is not listed. i tried to find the .exe file in file explorer and can't seem to find it. i do go to file explorer, my device, window, start menu and see activesync there but when i click on it, it just blinks.

so i think i need to reinstall activesyn on my X5, but since i can't connect with the computer through the cradle, does anyone have any ideas to reload activesync on my X5?

any help is appreciated since i use this to sync on a daily basis.

well i found the solution.

in reading other posts, i did a soft resetting which fixed the problem. i was concerned that it would be a major difficulty. lucky me.
