Need Serious Help with CF GPS Receiver Axim X5

sorry am new to GPS and these types of PDA's so bear with me...

I have an Axim X5 400Mhz with windows 2003. I just purchased a new CF GPS receiver (generic brand on ebay), but when I plug it into my Axim I get the message "New modem detected. There are no connections on your device that use this modem...." and promts me to set up a new "internet" or "work" connection. The GPS device is definately not a modem, but did not come with any drivers and am still in the process of purchasing navigational software....but I am afraid to purchase software since my Axim is not recognizing my receiver correctly...will the GPS navigational software recognize my receiver?

I get the same message with my Syson GPS CF Plus III since upgrading to WM2003 with my X5 400 Mhz. I didn't get this message with PC 2002.

I just ignore the prompt and load up the software (OnCourse Navigator), and it works like it did before.
