x5 and micro drive

Does anyone ever use a micro drive in an X5, I tried a five gb today it doesn't work. Install new CF driver still doesn't work. Help please!!

First off, have you installed the CF timing fix that you can download from Dell.com.

I tried a 2.2 GB Microdrive that did not work so some are not compatible. You need to look on the manufacturers web site to see if their drive is compatible with the X5.

If it is not listed as compatible, their is little you can do.

I've been using a 1GB IBM Microdrive for a few years now with no problems.

Some microdrives are compatible, some not. Always check the manufacturers web site.

Magistor Microdrives are not

Many "OEM" microdrives are removed from mp3 players that use them. Mp3 player manufacturers have been making locked microdrives for a while now that aren't compatible with many other devices. This is because people were buying mp3 players with microdrives for less than the cost of a new microdrive and stripping them, potentially profiting from doing this in quantity.
