Axim X5 stuck on screen align

I'm afraid it doesn't work, think its a lost cause unfortunately!! I plug it in and the screen alignment still loops!! I took the screen off the motherboard and looked behind at the connections, they look fine!! the only thing that looks wrong is the ribbon cable you talk about.
The part above the actual screen ("the soft layer") has a "Y" shaped dent in it from, I'm guessing, someone pushing too hard on it.
Any way are there any suggestions?

If the screen still locks at align when the motherboard and screen is out of the case, then I am afraid their is nothing you can do.

Did you buy this second hand ???.

All you can try is to remove the 3 cables from the motherboard and then put them back. Perhaps someone had not put them in correctly.

I have only once seen this problem and it was when the ribbon cable had broken just where it entered the screen, difficult to see but not possible to cure.

I am afraid your axim is exactly the same.


The Y shaped indentation is the normal problem that people see, using the buttons on the bottom of the axim causes the top layer of the ribbon cable to be worn away. Some tape over this normally solves the problem.
All you can do is sell the motherboard and case as parts. It is not worth buying a new screen assembly.

I bought it on Ebay, the seller has agreed to replace it, so its all worked out in the end. Thanks for your help

The same thing happened to me after putting on the tape. But I did a soft re-set while the align screen was on and it re-booted as if it were a t the initial set-up. Give the soft re-set a try.
