Streaming mp3's from a laptop

I posted this on Aximsite and it went nowhere. My user name should be "thread killer" since after I post that's usually the end of interest in any thread.

I can navigate to the mp3 directory on my laptop using my PPC (Axim X5)and see the files, but when I click on the title I get the message "Cannot find 'track title' (or one of its components). Make sure the path and filename are correct and all the required libraries are available." When I do the same thing with my X30 Windows Media Player plays the track with no trouble. Since I'm using the X5 just as a music player this is really frustrating. Otherwise I'll have to load whatever I want onto a memory card.

Hopefully someone here can help me. I've searched a bit for my specific problem but had no success in finding an answer. Maybe it's unique to my setup but I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Not sure if it's the same problem but I have just bought a wifi card and wanted to connect to a share on my network for playing MP3's. I can connect and see the files through explorer but clicking them does nothing?

I am having problems with media player (it won't run) but I am using Pocket Music 3.0 and I've tried browsing from there but can't seem to do it.

Any advice would be appreciated and a sort of bump from me

Thanks for the bump. I haven't gotten any suggestions from anywhere I posted. It's funny that we can see the files but not play them. Shoot, I can even play an mpeg, just not mp3's.

I haven't seen a solution for this anywhere.

It seems that Microsoft has jsut build it the ability to view your network shares. If you want to use the fiules, you have to copy them to your PDA. This does apply to ALL file types.

I don't know, if there is an UPNP Client client for PocketPC. That way it would be possible to configure your main System as streaming server.

I think many would like such a feature, since there are several standalone UPNP clients on the market by now (e.g. Terratec's Noxon).

It discusses how to stream from your desktop although I think the outcome is more of a radio station result than a pick a tune and play it.

I carried on searching and apparently you need athird party app to open files directly.

Using Total Commander on my X30 I can find, highlight, and play the mp3 file, but on the X5 I can only find the file on the desktop.
