 Can anyone give me some advice. I have had nothing but problems with my PDA. First of all it kept freezing up, then I couldn't get it to even work at all. I talked to Dell, and they just replaced the complete inside of my PDA. All new * All should work, right?? NO, it still doesn't................
Well, now when I touch the start buttom all is get is the settings screen where you set the clock. If I continuely tap the top left corner after a while I actually get the start menu.
What do you think is wrong? You would think after starting all over again it would work, but even with the new hardware I am still having problems. Different problems, but problems.
One other problem is when I tap on one line I don't always get that but usually the line under it. Why am I having so many problem???????
Can you give me some advice. DTM2D

I did try the screen alignment, after reading alot of posts through this area.
It just gets stuck there and I can't even get it to quit aligning. I finally have to restart to get out of that mode.

Have you tried a hard reset? If you hard reset and the problem is still there before you restore your programs and such then it is another hardware problem. If it is gone then comes back when you restore it is become of some software you installed.
Are you using a screen protector?

I have the same problem. When tag on the start menu, the New react it or nothing happen. Especially in the password screen, when tag on the 1, the cls react. That is very annoying. I change the screen protector and realign the screen, it still happens sometimes. Let me know if you know how to fix it.

Thanks for the replys. I have contacted Dell but still have't heard back from them.
I finally assigned the bottoms on the front to the things I need. One of the bottoms I assigned to the Start Menu. Now I don't have to tap the start in the top left corner, I just hit the button at the bottom. This is working, but nothing else is, and it is freezing up alot.
I have only had this unit about a year and I have had nothing but problems with it. I sure don't think I want another next time.....

If the hard reset does not fix it you have a problem with the hardware and need to get dell involved. If it does fix it it is because something you have installed.

:w00t: There is actually a fix for this problem!!!
First here is the problem: The mylar coating on the ribbion cable for the touch screen is getting worn away by the Axim Case.
The Fix: a 1/16" x 1/16" piece of electrical tape!
Okay so after hard resesting every time it happened, getting a screen protector, cleaning the screen protector and finally replacing my axim with Dell and then going through the same frustrations 3 months later with the new one I found this message and I was so frustrated I tried the process and I can say after 6 months I have had no problems.
"I had this problem for about 6 months. I was able to work around it by pressing in on the sides. The problem progressively got worse, so I decided to open it up and see what was going on. This is what I found:
The touch screen lays on top of the display screen. At the bottom of the touch screen, directly below the "Inbox Button", there is a flex cable (flat mylar with conductors). I found that the contacts from the button had scratch through the mylar on the flex cable and would short out. I suppose this would scramble the decoding from the touch screen.
To correct the problem, I cut a small piece of electrical tape and laid it across the damaged area on the flex cable. I reassembled it using just the screws (I left the rubber sides and feet off) and tested it. After I was sure it was working correctly, I finished assembling it.
You can find detailed disassembly instructions on the web by doing a search for X5 screen replacements. The procedure isn't that difficult, just be careful when you remove the rubber sides and feet to lift them slowly and try to keep the glue stuck to the rubber (this makes reassembly much easier).
Quick instruction:
1. Do a complete backup of your unit (you will loose all your data).
2. Remove both batteries and any cards.
3. Remove the rubber feet, sides and plugs at the bottom back.
4. Remove 6 screws from the back.
5. You should be able to remove the back of the unit.
6. Unplug the speaker cable (pull straight up on the plug).
7. Lift the motherboard and screen away from the front cover.
8. Make your repair.
9. Reassemble in reverse order."
Remember when you open a case you void your warranty!!! But if your warranty is over you have not much to loose, go slow be carefule and limit the static as usual in your work area. (the hardest part is removing the rubber feet and sides slow enough to reinstall them) A little warmth helps and you can always head to an office supply store and find double sided tape and replace it.
there was nothing more frustrating than not being able to use my Axim correctly, this worked for me I had to pass it on.
