Hey guys....I have installed a compact flash card (256MB) and I need to know how to move program files there so that I don't get "low program memory" notifications.

Also, i have discovered the wonders of the "memo" function (i conduct a lot of interviews and it is GREAT to just record instead of write) so I need to know if there is a way to record the notes directly to the CF Card where there is a great deal more room.

Any help you can give is appreciated!

if I'm not mistaken, moving installed programs around on your axim can be as problematic as moving installed programs around on your desktop - if there's any registry magic involved in the program's normal operation then moving it could break the installation.

you should be able to install programs directly onto the CF, though. when the installer asks if you want to install to the default location say no instead of yes and you should then be able to choose to install on your CF card.

Maybe others will have better advice for you, but here's mine. I occasionally move games I've installed, from one location to another, but apps and utilities I uninstall and reinstall. Frequently they have alarms, and other features which I figure might get hosed (as GUID said, above) if the registry points to the wrong place.

As to the memo feature, I've never used it. Do you have a "My Documents" folder on your CF? That seems to be the magic wand to get the card to behave the way you need it to. If you instead have gotten the dreaded "Ignore_my_documents" file, then we need to sort that issue out first. Once you get the My Documents folder, in general you can write to the card just as you can to main, from all of yours apps.

Good luck, and post back with more information, if this is confusing.

To continue on with dodette's thoughts, once you create the My Doc's folder on the storage card you can delete the ignore_my_doc's folder. There's a free program out there called cab installer that wiil let you specify the install path for d/l'ed programs in CAB format.
