OK this may be my PPC stupidity showing since I have used the palm OS for about 5 years, but I have a problem with Backups on the PPC.
My AXIM instructions only mention backing up to a SD or CF card.
Well first of all I have a 128 card and I use that for books, bible, etc. and it has lots on it.
Secondly, I want to back up to my PC for safeties sake. I have done it that way for years...but no mention of it anywhere (that I could find) in the manual.
Third, is this just a palm OS withdrawal syndrome or am I right?
Fourth, I have thought about copying all of the folders from the Active Sync window into a folder on my PC and then copying them back in the event of a system restore emergency. However, I can't test it unless I perform a hard reset...and I don't want to.
Any ideas, corrections, or comments.
Thanks in Advance!

The other option for backing up the Axim would be to use the backup utility in ActiveSync under Tools - Backup/Restore. I have used this to backup my Axim to a network drive without a problem.

:P That's me fat, dumb, and happy! I figured it out about 5 minutes before this message hit my email!
Although it has been running that long and it is barely started. It must take a while to complete.
Thanks for the help! I guess I was just freaking out with Palm withdrawal.

I used the tool in ActiveSync as well. However, it took a really long time to do it.
Next time, I want to try an incremental backup and see how it works.
I'll be testing this because I'll be getting a replacement Axim in the next day or so, and I'm going to have to do a restore.

I forgot to mention that when I am doing a backup using ActiveSync, I generally go for coffee or carry on with something else for a while - due to the slow speed - oops.

Yeah, I'm fairly stunned it takes so long.

The incremental back up will be much faster since you are only backing up the changes you have made since your last backup. It would be nice if you could do a faster full backup.

I did my first TOTAL backup yesterday, or maybe I should say MOST of yesterday. I am going to try an incremental later today and it should be much faster. I just wanted to get that first one out of the way.

I did an incremental last night, still takes a while. Instead of taking 30 mins. or so, it took about 20 mins. Too long in my opinion.
The crazy thing is that it isn't even that much data.

I haven't tried the backup in ActiveSync yet (I've only had mine about a week) but after reading these posts I think I am going to try a different route.
I have a wireless card with mine that I use to connect to my wireless network at home. I am able to connect to my desktop and copy and paste files and it is actually fairly quick. I copied a 6MB file from my desktop to the Axim last night and it only took about 30 seconds. I think I am going to just copy and paste all the folders from the Axim over to the Desktop periodically.
As far as the Contacts, Calendar, and Tasks that I use regualary, that data is stored in Outlook on my desktop if I ever lose that data on the Axim.
