Built in memory "gone"!

Hi everybody,

Yesterday My built in memory (memoria integrata in spanish version) "drive"disappeared from the file explorer window, it cannot be accessed any other way, even from system/memory this drive won't appear. I've tried soft and hard reset and both of them were useless. I've even restored a previous backup file, and everything was there except the missing drive.

Has anyone else suffered this problem? any file or patch to solve it.

It was still missing after a hard reset? Sounds like a hardware failure to me.

Yes, after a hard reset the built in storage was still missing. Even after restoring a full backup file of the system working perfectly built-in storage wasn't there.

I suppose in case of a harware failure I'll get another new (not refurbished) axim from Dell...

Any experiences with Dell's support?

When I first got my Axim, I had them send me a new one (I hope). I thought the d-pad was too "mushy". It was. And it still is. As far as I know, they sent me a new one. However, I am not 100% certain that they will always send you a new one. You might want to ask them when you call for your troubles. And, as always, do let us know how it goes.

How old is your axim? Did you get a warrenty with it? If it is brand new they should give you a NEW one. Just make sure that you request it.

I looked around for a while and I havent seen any other cases of this happening, sooooo.....

I think that dell will want to give you a new one so they can find out what happened, or at least I would if I was dell.

Hi everybody and thanks for your posts,

Well, Dell is sending me in 24hs a brand new axim advanced, (except its battery, I'll keep mine...), Support was excellent and they were indeed surprised by the incident...no reports of such failures so far...

Hopefully my new axim comes with mobile 2003 installed :shifty:


CMMS: Is your rhinoskin alluminium case worth the money, I'm considering to purchase it but delivery expenses to Spain cost almost as much as the case itself...

Wow, a BRAND NEW ONE!!!!!

Congrats! I am almost positive that if they are sending you a brand new one it will have 2003 installed. Let us know what it has when you get it.

I think the rhinoskin is a GREAT case. My axim has survived many a fall. The case doesnt get all scratched up too easily either. I would recomend it out of all of the "cheaper" cases. I think that you can get one from the dell website, would that cut the cost of shipping a little?

I've just got my new axim from Dell.es, and it's indeed new, but unfortunately there was no luck with the OS, it still runs PPC 2002 , I Guess I'll have to upgrade Myself.

Anyway score one point for Dell'ss agile and efficient support .

Sounds like PPC2002 is best, unless you have the newest rom.

Are you SURE that it is new? I can't believe that they would have any NEW units going out w/o the new os. That sucks!
