Okay,
From what I am reading I have found out that your built in memory is Flash memory (left over from what your os didnt take up). After you write to your built in storage 10,000 or so time is will go bad. This happens to mem cards to, but, you can reformatt them. So my question is: in theory if you used up you built in storage, then, reformatted your built in storage (you would lose the os) and then reinstalled the os (with a .RIS file?) would you have 10,000 or so writes to the memory again?
Any thoughts would be appretiated!

That is a GREAT question. I use the built in memory all of the time for my important files.....just in case I have to hard reset the unit....they are safe. (I don't trust backups, sorry, just me). I had seen the 10k limit before as well and just haven't worried about it. I figure by the time I were to use up 10k writes.....it would be time for a new Axim.
I also store LOTS of information on Compact Flash cards. Movies, games, music.....I have a good library of stuff.

Sorry that I was not clear. You get 100,000 writes to the memory that is available or 20 years before the flash memory goes bad. I am still looking for the link. When I find it I will post it. Its a good read.

Here is the link. Found it over on aximsite. you guys can check it out.
Yes, 20 years is a long time to keep an ax or handheld. The scary thing is that if you put a program that writes to itself all the time there, you could get there very quickly depending on how frequently you use the program.

Hi everybody,
About Built in memory, my axim has lost its Built in memory, I haven't done anything unusual or installed any new software but yesterday it was no longer there... buil in memory does not appear in the file explorer window nor in the system/memory setup window. I enclose a capture where there only appeas my mapped network drive and my secure digital card, but no clue about where built in memory is gone...
Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thx.
