First thing you might want to do is call CompuServe, and find out if you can access their network from a PDA. I know that you cannot access an AOL account from a PDA because of AOL’s proprietary technology, and since CompuServe is own by AOL, there might be a chance that you won't be able to access it.
As for me, I have a T-Mobile Pocket PC Phone Edition, and I use their data service ($20 for 10 Mb per month). My co-workers have the same device, and they can access their local ISP with their phones. AT&T, Earthlink, and MSN are some of the ISP out there that you can use your device to access the Internet.
