well the Idea, goes like this, I am a Master auto technician for a Pontiac, Buick& GMC truck Dealership, My speciality area is Electrical/electronics, when I work on cars I need to look at electrical wiring diagrams and diagnostic charts, on this one GM website they have all that info ...when you have the interior all apart, you don't have much room for a laptop, and I waste too much time going back and forth to the computer or waste time printing the info out only to throw it away when I'm done, I just wanted something small something that wouldn't get in the way with what I was doing. and that why I bought a pda ....

Great! Above expectations. I have been a Palm user for many, many years now, my latest, being a Palm IIIx. This computer is so much more capable. I look forward to the next upgrade! :P

Now that I've finally got everything set up (all the new software, moving from a Palm) and everything working it's great! Still trying to figure out how to use my cellphone as the modem since neither the Axim or my phone have wireless built-in but other than that I was so pleased that I just bought my wife one for Valentine's Day. Of course, her's will be easy to set up since I've already done all the dirty work.

I voted "What I expected," and just wanted to add here that I did a lot of homework and research before choosing the Axim. My expectations were VERY high.
I'm thrilled with my Ax.

hey, re the connection to the cell phone, T mobile has a deal at amazon.com for a free after rebate tmobile sidekick with UNLIMITED connection time the first year of service for 40 a month with 500 anytime minutes. Thats not a bad deal if you need some serious net time.
They also have a free deal on a bluetooth enabled phone that and a card and you could be in heaven.

Ah. ok now that makes sense. Yeah the axim screen is pretty small an i would think it would be tough to view a diagram of that sort. an option you may have tho, is to convert the diagram into PDF, then transfer it to your axim. with Acrobat reader, you can zoom in and out of documents, so you can see the whole thing, and zoom in on the parts you need.

My general feeling? I think this is a great machine! I used a Palm IIIxe and used it for a lot of things. Now with my Dell Axim i can do a lot more, besides the usual calendar, contacts and email; I use the Pocket Word program to take notes in meetings and then sync it to my desktop to print those notes.
The colour screen is marvellous and I use the picture program to brag and show off the kids.
The media player makes it perfect for when I work and want to shut out the background noise with music. And then there are games, its wonderful.
I haven't mentioned anything about the readers either.

I have never owned a PDA before. When Dell entered the market I just had to go for it. The Axim is my 6th Dell purchase. I am really pleased. Everything runs just fine, didn't have any problems. The d-pad seems a little loose but works great, DLed the patch I'm happy. Next purchase is the CF GPS.

Used to have a Visor Platinum.
I am giddy with joy with my Axim. LIfe is good.

Drop,
I had two Visor Platinums, One for home use (my backup) and the other for business/on the road. Sold both with accessories to a couple of nurses and almost had enough to pay for the new axim / 400 mhz.
Though I liked the Platinums, the axim/pocketpc rocks!
