undeleteable file - help please

My PPC2002 X5 has recently crashed big time when accidentally left switched on. Recharged and new back up battery, very little worked after so took the opportunity to clear off everything, reflashed to A04 and started again. Loading a TomTom GPS map something went wrong and it failed to complete, which left a map related program in main memory, which I cannot delete. I have successfully loaded the GPS and its maps which now work. but the failled map loading program appears too still be there. In "remove programs" I can highlight it, click delete, the screen flickers a bit but it stays there. No messages, it just wont go. As far as I can see neither the faulty program nor the GPS program are running and are not shown in "running programs". I can delete other programs no problem.

Any ideas please?

I had something similar with a program - it didn't exist anywhere except in the "remove programs" list, and even though the Axim apparently deleted the entry it was back again next time I looked. I eventually ignored it and it disappeared next time I installed a new OS.
Sorry not to have better advice...

This may come a bit late for the original post, but for those others....

To remove the listing of a program that had been installed in the main memory of the X5, simply deleting the program and remnants will not remove the listing. In order to remove these items from the menu, you must do a 'Hard Reset'.

Before Dell outsourced their technical services to India, I had this problem. The US Dell tech explained that the 'Hard Reset' was the only way to accomplish removing the default icon and the program name. Any of the PPC OS icons and their associated functions, remain, as per the original burn to the BIOS (ROM?).

Please, back up your X5 before doing this, as the Hard Reset will remove all but the PPC OS system that Dell had installed.
