I'm using a 256 mb sandisk SD card...with no problems at all, after I formatted it. It did some wierd stuff before formatting though.

What do you mean by "problems"?

There have been several discussions about problems with the 256 SD card. Some have suggested it is not just SanDisk, but the SD format itself, and capacities larger than 128.
I had several problems with my SanDisk card such: as the Axim not being able to access it, even though it had accessed it before...not being able to write to it because of a message saying it was write-protected (it was not)...
I have switched to a Lexar 256 card, but have not used it long enough to see if it also is problematic.

I have been having a ton of problems with san disk card - 3 problems especially
1. everytime I install a program - I will lose some other program previously installed.
And this one is my favorite!
2. Sometimes after I install a program the whole disk card gets erased! and when you do a directory you will see hundreds and hundreds of folders named . - yes . (Period) then I have connect to my pc to delete the files and restart from scratch.
3. Turn on the axim and you get "SD card not formatted - would you like to format it now?"
go figure

I have a question for the people that hasn't had problem with sandisk 256mb sd card. How long have you been using the card and have you try installing programs on it and/or move large amount data on to it through MS ActiveSync?
The problem that I have been having is: everytime I install anything programs on it, all my data gets erase.

I have a sandisk SD 128 MB card I have found that as long as I only install 3 or 4 programs and do not copy many files over to it. The SD card will behave and be pretty much error free. Though if I install more than 6 or 7 programs it will result in the files named ' . ' and deleting those files does nothing but make the Axim say the disk is not formatted and ask if I want to format it.

Just got my 256Mb card myself and experienced exactly the same problems when loading it up with apps. Installed 4 or 5 at a time through AS and everything vansihed. Axim asked me to format the card. Was wondering is it was a problem with the SD card, or even with the Axim's SD slot?
Got another PDA at home and a 64Mb card too, so will do some testing. The reason I got the 256Mb card was so that I could load it up with goodies. IF it's going to act up on me like this evertime I try and copy data to it though, I'm going to be very pissed off.
