Sorry about that ...I got what you mean.
Whenever you start Windows Media for the first time, it calibrates the player to the device, and it will ask you to do a soft reset. I would assume that you did that.
Did you install any other type of media player in your device?
If not, backup your device, and do a hard reset. If the problem persist, you need a new one.
