Midnight Auto on, Auto off not working ?

The Axim is new, 400Mhz 64M ram version with A02 installed. Works grate but for one thing: at midnight 12:00 am the Axim powers up, screen lights, makes the power on sound and sits there. No messages.

Ok, I called Dell support and was told " Humm not heard that before " but there are other forums with posts about it. Like :

The Dell support dude "says send um to me." so I do.
Not heard from him for seven days ?

The Axim may be coming on to sync the calendar up for the day's messages but should turn off again in 5min.
No, nothing is tuching the screen. It happens on or off the cradle.

See if your Axim is doing this by setting the clock to 11:57 pm and wate till 12:00 am to hit. Did it do it ?

Battery will get low by 6:00 am if I do not manualy power off the Axim at 12:15 am.

Hi I heard this before for other PPCs...The reason was if a program (such as media player) is running if will prevent the device to turn itself....

The reason to turn itself is by default by micrsoft cannot be cahnged....

So be sure that no program that may prevent it to turn off is running

It's a PPC OS bug. All of mine have done it. All of them do. Although, Mine shuts right back off. You might want to make sure you don't have any software running in the background when you shut it off for the night.

It's in the operating system, not the hardware. So it's in every PDA running PPC2002.

Does anyone know if MS has released a patch or if they are going to? Is this bug addressed in PPC2003? :huh:

I dont think ive noticed it happen at midnight.... i just notice that sometimes it just turns on.

Mark ...hopefully it would, but we will just have to wait and see.

Pocket PC O/S is tested internally, so no one would know what it will have until it is close for release.
