Newbie here, with a warning for anyone on the verge of ordering the Axim: DO NOT, under any circumstance, place your order online! Call 'em up instead.
After much research, I placed an order online with Dell on Jan. 17, taking advantage of the $40 discount, plus free shipping, for an order total of $309. Not bad, thought I...
Received an "order acknowledgement" by e-mail that day, quoting my $309 total--however, no "order confirmation" ever arrived. Tried tracking online, but to no avail--it seems my order doesn't exist.
After at least an hour of frustrating phone waiting and button-pushing (see, I had no order, so there was no order number, so I couldn't enter it, so I'd be hung up on...), I got to a real person yesterday who could actually take my order.
Trouble is, the discount and free shipping no longer apply. There's no recourse. I pay full price or I change my mind. I'm leaning heavily toward the latter.
The (very friendly, nice, and powerless) Dell reps I spoke to acknowledged that there are serious problems with their online ordering system, and actually advised me against using it in future.
By the way, according to the sales rep, the ONLY way to let Dell know what I think of this situation is to mail them a letter. So I'm gonna. I'm old enough to remember stamps:
