I would really like to get a GPS setup for the Axim, and I see plenty of packages out there (CF slot type). What I would like is to have essentially the same functionality as the Hertz Neverlost system (I.E. updateable routes, no map downloading prior to a trip, etc) Does anyone have any advice on hardware and software packages they have tried?

I bought a Holux GPS 270 from PocketMap along with their Navigator US 2003 Maps. The maps load slowly, but the navigation works great. Sounds like Steven Hawking is guiding me. The re-routing works fine. The Holux GPS CF connection quickly.

Guys, I just got my bundle this morning: Holux GM-270 GPS CF card plus Mapopolis platinum for 1 year (all U.S. maps from NavTech) - $220 with shipping from http://www.semsons.com. It rocks!!... I've heard about problems with Axim and Pretec CF, incorrect and slow navigation with less expensive Billionton CF card. Also, I have tried Destinator2 software - its GPS navigation is great, but map browsing and interface in general is not easy to use and map displaying and redrawing is reaaaaaly slow.... Teletype software would not recognize Holux card on my Axim, so I could not try it.

So I LOVE quickest Mapopolis and Helux combination! Just perfect, real-time GPS solution for Axim!!! Gee.. sound like I am a sales-person.. No, I am not! Just a happy customer!!!

The Axim car charger from PocketMap (SpaceMachine) is a poor design. The plastic end of the adapter that should fit inside the Dell doesn't, causing a lose connection. I'm waiting to hear back from them with a remedy. If you get the package deal that comes with the vent mount holder - DON'T - unless you are willing to glue a small button on the back of your new Axim. I wasn't willing and it ended up with me senting back the vent mount and purchasing a new one (made by Arkon) for a very discount. I'm haiving second thoughts about PocketMap navigator maps off the Holux unit. I don't know if the Holux GPS, the maps, or the PocketPC 2002 OS is slow. The backtrack routing took a along time to calculate. I'm thinking I should have went with Mapopolis Navigator map, but I don't know if they have the nice features that PocketMap maps have (night mode, etc).

see above post----

I just heard from PocketMap. They are sending me a new car adapter that they will test in an Axim and I'm to sent back the old one. They also said that an update it coming out that should speed things up a bit.
