Have downloaded the most current Windows Mobile Device software, worked with it, but am having diffiulty finding the correct command sequence allowing normal transfer of e-mail, contactlist, daytimer information - all formerly enjoyed on an XP-equipped machine. Any suggestions on how I could make this happen ? Or is it time to trash the X3 in favour of a newer machine?

You shouldn't have a problem syncing your X3 with Vista. However, Vista no longer supports syncing over serial if you have a serial cradle, only USB will work.

Many thanks for the website information source. My Axim3 is now showing as connected, but the "Change content sync settings" option within "Mobile Device Settings" remains greyed-out. The struggle continues.

I found a couple of sites that reported a similar issue, it looks like one of the information types that you're trying to sync is causing the problem. You could try selecting one type at a time to determine which one is the offender.
