Is my X3i due for demolition??

Hi,

I have enjoyed my X3i for a number of years however I have frequently had the 'backup battery is low' warning message. When I checked the power levels they seemed ok, and this message did not always appear.
Recently the main power level dropped and then the screen has become stuck showing lines of colours.
I have tried a soft re-set and a hard re-set and taken the main battery out and also recharged it for the last 24 hours - still the same.
I am thinking of taking the back-up battery out and then replacing it with a new one.
Would this solve the problem or should I dump it?

At least try the backup battery, but it sounds like hardware/loose connection, there's some interesting stuff in this thread
