latest Rom upgrade for X3 ( with wireless built in )

I have searched Dells site for this but its still unclear which is the latest one.

Even though everything I read tells me that the X3 does not have wireless access, my model does indeed say under the battery that its an X3 ( not x3i ) but it has the stubby wireless aerial of the X3i.

I downloaded & installed R77205 & R77269, but since then the Axim reports its unable to obtain a server assigned IP address, although all other PC's in the house are fine.

Is there a known problem with either of these updates & whats the update number I should be looking for to make it as up to date as possible ?

Does the X3 have the wireless program? Is it a refurb? Odd that it has wifi. For your error message, see this thread.

Hi shawfield, I did a bit of research for you, you installed R77269 which was released on 10th may 04, dell recommends

Install R71183 from Dell Support web site before installing this patch for the A00 ROM image users. How do you identify the A00 ROM? Start Button -> Setting, select "system" tab, select "system information".

R77205 was released 24th may 04, dell recommends

Axim X3 System Update Utility for Windows Mobile 2003 (Patch/Upgrade) ROM release for Axim X3 non-wireless configurations and Axim X3i integrated 802.11b Wireless LAN configuration. This ROM release SHOULD NOT be used with X3i combination integrated 802.11b Wireless LAN and Bluetooth configuration.

R80976 released 1st july 04 dell

Recommended Dell recommends applying this update during your next scheduled update cycle. The update contains feature enhancements or changes that will help keep your system software current and compatible with other system modules (firmware, BIOS, drivers and software).

your axim looks like this, is it possible that as mastah suggested that it is a refurb x3 in an x3i case
