How do I put the Axim into Long-Term Storage?
Sometimes I don’t touch my Axim for weeks or months at a time. Can I leave it charging in its charger so the internal memory isn’t lost? Will this damage the battery or reduce its charge capacity?
Also, is there a place on this site that lists tips and suggestions to help me get the most out of my Axim? Thanks!

If you're not going to use it and you know that, backup everything to CF or SD and then put it away. Leaving the baterry on permanent charge will killit. When you want to use ax again wack it on the cradle for at least eight hours and backup from your mast recent backup.
Have a look at this link

I just fired my x3i up after 3 years in storage and it's working fine other than needing a new backup battery. Looks like I can change it out myself cheap thanks to info posted here. Going to put it back into use as a MP3 player for the car.

News to me that leaving an axim on perminant charge will kill a battery. I thought they liked a constant charge.
All batteries will grade over time, irrespective of charge cycle.
The back up is a good idea.
However the poster does not mention if it is a x5, x3, or x50/x51. Each one of these have different battery arrangem, ents and thus different long term storage needs

I put a few threads here to have a look at concerning battery lifeand I know it is not technically correct to think constantly charging a lIon battery should have any affect on it, my experience with them hasn't refuted the tech specs. Basically concerning Laptops used for desktop replacements over the last couple of years. My current, six months old, should give me about an hour and a half, thirty five minutes at last off AC use. I wasn't thinking of the older NiMH batteries when I wrote this, that's a good point. IMHO if you are going to keep a device on constant charge, it compromises charge cycle and affects battery life and ultimate charge capacity. Which = length of device usability, obviously battery age is an issue, and keeping a battery on constant charge only enlarges the age of the battery.
