New User Questions - Dell Axim X3i
Hi,
I just got an Axim X3i, with Pocket PC 2003. I would like to know a few things,
1. What kind of software or plugin do I use for Flash when I browsing the web. I have installed the Flash Player plugin which was given in the Adobe website for PPC but Opera nor IE doesn't play Flash
2. What plug in is available for others like Quicktime and Real.
3. I have read that in PPC 2003 you can use application in the landscape, which is very useful when browsing the web. But I have no clue how I could do that. TCPMP plays in landscape automatically when playing videos. So how could I do landscape, especially for web browsers, Word and Excel.
Thanks for any input

Do you have PPC2003 or PPC2003SE? Landscape mode became available as an OS funtion in SE.
For the video players, check pocketpccentral. The list includes both free and pay apps, but flash and realplayer are free. If the sites you're visiting don't play flash video, they might require flash 8 or 9. Version 7 is the latest Adobe supplies for PPC. Sites that require later versions (like YouTube and others) are incompatible with PPCs.

youtube and dvd on X30 high??
Hello Mastah and Drifter,
I read with interest the playing of youtube movies on X51/.51v.
I have a X30 high and loaded TCPMP and then pasted the URL into conversion sites such as vidconvert, vixynet and mymobile clips. None of these worked over the last few weeks, with attempts at different times to avoid busy periods.
Can you tell me; am I missing something or am I wasting my time with the X30?
I am thinking of converting dvd and loading these onto a large sd card. Will I get similar issues?
Many thanks in advance

I searched the sites you mentioned, vidconvert, vixynet, and my mobile clips, maybe you don't need to add URL maybe browse computer and upload files, I am not familiar with these sites but they seem self explanetory. You do not mention what sort of files you want to play/convert, that may help to find third party conversion software.

youtube and dvd on X30 high??
Hello Pedah,
thanks for your reply
What I want to do is look at youtube video files directly from my Axim without first having to use my PC and then syncing the converted file to the Axim.
What I understand is that the following can be done on the Axim:
the URL of the youtube video can be copied and pasted into any of the three conversion sites mentioned and the converted files can then be played if TCPMP is running.
However, these do not respond. I'm wondering if I'm missing another application that would allow viewing?

Youtube is not compatible with PPCs because Adobe has not released a version for them that is compatible with Youtube's required flash version.
