More X3 Questions

I was a bit of an early adopter, sine my X3 does WiFi but not bluetooth. Anyhow, it stopped synching one day. There was not hardware or software change on either the PC or the Axim. In fact, I've tried it on a number of PC's and a Mac (using PocketMac, which used to be great with this PDA), and nothing recognizes it anymore.

I have the latest ROM update, and it works fine with my Dell Keypad, so I am going crazy trying to figure out how to make this thing start being recognized by PC's so I can synch again. Hard resets don't appear to work, so what now? Any new thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Are you doing a true hard reset ?? press and hold power on and whilst doing so press reset). ??

Have a look at the connector at the bottom of your axim, early versions of the x3 do suffer from bent pins. It is possible to bend these back with care, normally better if you take the axim apart so you can push the pins forward.

If it is bent pins, this can explaine why some devices work and others not

Good questions!

I know I'm doing a proper hard reset, and I casually looked at the pins, but maybe I need to look a little closer. I'm also wondering if unplugging the battery and letting it die (a REALLY hard reset) might also help. Thanks for the tips.

NO NO NO, if the axim is a few years old, letting it die ie allowing the back up battery to drain would be a bad move as their is a risk that the back up will not recover. These backups do not last for ever and past a certain age, if the charge goes too low, they fail completely. I suggest it is the pins, sometimes one or more can be pushed back, so a little shorter than normal
