Dead X3 Backup battery

If my backup is dead, will it affect the life of my main battery. I have had the same battery for 3 years and it is beginning to quickly lose it's charge I have ordered another, Is it imperative that I have the backup battery? It sounds like the only thing that it is used for is replacing the main battery and I can replace that withethe power cord plugged in to avoid memory loss.. Am I correct?

Hi Hoo1-

Your backup battery won't affect the life of your main battery and you won't lose data if you keep the main battery charged or plugged in.

I agree with Mahstah. However you will get annoying popup's informing you the back up is dead.

If you want to replace it, it is easy to do and I can sell you a replacement that needs no soldering for $20 including postage.

PM me with your email address and I will send a paypal invoice. The battery is identical to the original used by Dell and needs no special skills or tools. I will also send full instructions.
