Actually, I've been doing this for a couple of days. All attempts at different techniques, no matter how patient, have failed. I've tried to do it "firmly and accurately" as it instructs me to do on the align screen.

Another thing ... let me know if you decide to try it, but ... usually remote link ups require permission from the unit that's going to allow something else to control it. I'd expect problems probably in both the install and the set-up for remote control. I'm desparate enough to try .... but not hopeful enough to jump at it.

dna: Have you read through all the posts in that other discussion? The other guy had the problem I mentioned ... couldn't make remote work because he couldn't respond on the PDA. But lookie here ... an idea ... it got him to a next step; although I'm not sure whether I'm interpreting the comments with too much hope -- maybe he just wasn't able to do what was suggested (even though he says he did).
"After you activesync the axim, click Explore on desktop's activesync and create shortcut for the file you want to run and move that shortcut to Windows\StartUp folder on the axim, then soft-reset and activesync again. Hopefully that can work."
.....
"I did all the recommedations. It went to the startup but there is a problem, the remider shows up and it freezes. Is there a way to turn of the reminder message? I am still hoping that i can still fix this. I think I am getting there, maybe this is it. Hope to hear form you again. "

Yes. It even says that I've synced favorites, although I haven't found a file on the X30 under Windows / Favorites.
But I have been able to copy files both ways.

Went to the download site. The app. appears to be just for remote display; not remote control.

Damn, it has to be a hardware problem. It appears that you screen is not working properly. If you can sync , it really means that it[ax] is on and working, so I don't now what to do. Keep posting.

There's no question that the PDA is actually on and responsive, it just locks up on that align screen. I can wake mine up with the touch screen, but I don't think Roger is able to do that. We may have different problems.

BIG Change ... still no solution.
OK ... after reading those posts, I started fooling around in Windows / Start-up using ActiveSync. With only oLaunchSmart in start-up, I'm past the set-up screen and into a bunch of menus. Just like the other guy, I'm now stuck there. Still no screen response.

Lots of stuff going on. After disconnecting from the PC and rebooting, buttons are now working.
