Potential new user here, question re contacts
I found your group via a Yahoo search. I am soon to be a new PDA user and am shopping around for what might fit best. I was using an old Casio BOSS that died so I am waaaay behind the 8 ball here. Had my heart set on a Lifedrive, ease of use really but the more I read about Dell the better they seemed.
I have one concern, I hope to find help here, since I am new to the PDA I am likely going to be frugal and buy the X30 on e-bay. Thing is I checked out the X51 at an outlet and I don't like the contacts, I went to it and it was blank. Palm has a very nice template which is customizable with a drop down window. Looking for advice on this for the x30.
Hope this is clear enough, anyone who has looked at the palms should know what I mean

The contacts on the X51v and the X30 are slightly different, but you can see here what the contacts look like when populated on an X30. Each contact has around 30 editable properties as well as a notes section.

Does this have a "template" as the Palms do (if you are familiar with those) what does that look like. Sorry to be a bother but Dell's to play with hands on are scarce, Palms are everywhere so I have had ample opportunity to check them out.

I'm familiar with Palms but the newest one I have is the lowly m505. I'm not sure what you mean by templates- the contacts for the Palm aren't anything unusual... Would you like me to post screenshots of what the "New" contact field options are?

Thanks for your input. I have looked further into it and think the contacts feature will do.
My next question. Is it possible to have the tasks show up on the Calender, I played with a X50 at the Mall for quite some time and could not get the calendar to show tasks due that day. Palms will do this. I am leaning more nad more to the Dell, definately faster but the palm seems a bit easier to navigate. Quite a bit of lag on the palm though. My apologies for being a bother but I am trying to make the best purchase for me, it's not just the money.

The calendar tasks are called appointments for the Axim. The calendar appointments can be viewed in a list, by day, by week, by month, or by year. The next upcoming appointment shows on the today screen (the desktop) and the Axim wakes up with an alarm when the appointment is due for reminding.

I have researched a bit more and found pictures of the X50 that show a "today" page, here it lists # of active tasks. I think that will suffice for now. Does the X30 do this.

The above is a URL to a pic of the screen I am talking about. It's about 8 pics down in the fellas hand.

The X50 in the pics you see is running WM2003SE, the same exact OS as the X30 runs.
