X3i from Japan - Can I upload new English ROM to it?? Help

I've bought a Axim X3i from Japan so it use Japanese Windows , can I upload new English ROM to it? I've found a website that have ROM for X3, is it suitable for X3i? Thanks in advance and excuse my poor English

Hello artetavn-

You cannot use an X3i ROM on an X3. You also cannot replace a Japanese ROM with an English one without editing some of the ROM code.

U said that the English ROM could not be loaded to the Japanese X3i, so there must be hardware differences between the Eng model and the Jap model , isn't it? If it is , how can I modified that ROM or are there anyway easier for me to "make it English", please please help me.

Answering on behalf of Mahstah.

Please read his answer carefully.

He correctly says you cannot load the ROM from an x3 onto an x3i, or visa versa. This is nothing to do with language.

the X3 and X3i are two different machines and ROM's are machine specific, so you cannot mix them

If you find a copy of the english Rom for an X3i, then you can modify some of the data so that you can copy this to your japanese x3i, but an x3 rom onto an X3i is not possible.

The only possible differences between x3i's are that US models use 2 less WiFi channels than European ones. In practice this is not a problem.

Thank you so much Drifter and Mahstah, but i just don't know about modifing the ROM, why it had to be done and how can i do it. How about others model of PPC? How can i make sure that the Jap PPC will accept the Eng ROM in the ROM pages above (with the exactly model number such as X5, X30)?
Another thing, The X30 has 3 versions so how about their ROMs, do they use the same ROM ?. I've searched many ROM sites and they only supply ROM for X30, not say what kind of X30 is. Can you help me one more time, thank you very much!
