BackUp battery not working

My axim30 has lost complete power. The power light is flashing green-amber-green- and so on without stopping when in the cradel. When I take it out of the craddle the Axim shut down and there is no power. I called dell and they say I am out of warranty. I have changed the battery and still the system does not work. Additionally there is and error message when I go the "power set up , which says "The backup battery cannot supply enough power to maintain data" is there anyway iI can change the backup battery. I need help .I can't live without my axim.

The back up battery may not be faulty. What the error message is telling you is that it is low in power, changing this ( if you can), may not remove the problems you are experiencing.

It seems that for some reason, your Axim is not charging. Check this by plugging in the charger and if you can, switch to Settings, power and see if it is showing signs of charging. If not this could be a serious fault that needs expert attention by a company such as PocketPCtechs.com.

Two suggestions though.

1) Take out the main battery and charge this seperately in the cradle. When fully charged, reinstall in the axim and then do a hard reset.

2) With the main battery out, clean the contacts on the battery and also the ones on the system unit. These axims use bent gold coloured connectors and if you can, CAREFULLY use a paper clip to bend the system connections upwards so that their is a stronger connection to the battery when it is fitted.

This might just cure the problem, but if not, then I'm afraid that their is no simple cure as the motherboard could be faulty
