Active Sync Problems

Hello, Anyone know why active sync 3.8 won't recognize my X3i? Here's the basics: The battery died on the X3i, so i lost everything. Decided to update activesync to 3.8 and then recreate my partnership. Well i open active sync and plug in the usb and turn on the axim and it will not find the device. I've tried scanning for the device and still won't find it. I've even tested the USB port on the machine and it works fine.

Any suggestions?

Hi.

First thing to try is diabling your Firewall as this may be preventing the pC from connecting.

Once the Pc has connected and found the PDA, you can restart the firewall.

If this does not work, remnove activesync copmpleteley and do a hard reset on the PDA,

then with the firewall diabled, download and re install activesync and start again.

One other thing to check is to see what COM port the PDA is trying to use, activesync will only use com ports 1 - 13, anything above this and it will not connect. It is a pain to start reconfiguring so that a low comm port is used, but if you upgrade to Activesync 4.0, the problem no longer exists.

yer situation could be entirely different, but i had the EXACT SAME problem "your device was not detected" (right?)

mine was a hardware issue - some of the pins in the port on the bottom of the device were visibly damaged. a replacement device cured the problem.

The pins are not the problem as I am able to get it to sync with my laptop... however, I want my desktop to be the primary partner. So I wonder if the problem is with the pins in the cradle? I'll also try the firewall issue, but it didn't seem to be a problem until I updated my IM program. Could be a virus protection update as well that reset some stuff. Thanks for the tips, and i'll let you know what I find out.
