Ok, i've had my X3i for a few days now and after using it extensively I have memory questions. I've perused the forums looking for explanations but have found none so i'm going to try and explain my question as much as possible. Here is my current memory configuration, this is found by going into Settings, then Memory...

I have not adjusted the slider bars since recieving the unit and also have not installed anything to main memory, only my 256 meg sd card.

The "Main" Tab shows the following

Storage
Allocated 17.07 MB
In Use 5.47 MB
Free 11.60 MB

Program
Allocated 46.22 MB
In Use 8.77 MB
Free 37.45 MB

So if I do the math, I am reading that I have a total of 63.29 MB of Main memory, cool.

The Next Tab, Storage Card is where my confusion comes in. On my old Casio E-125 I had a compact flash card so when I clicked on the storage card it simply showed me how much I was using and how much was free of it. Now I have this drop down and the selection of "Built-In Storage" which shows 1.39 In Use and 33.42 Free, I have not copied anything to this Built In Storage and when I look at it in the file explorer the folder is empty so what is using the 1.39 mb?

My Regular storage card shows 20.90 MB Used and 220.23 MB free, this is fine because i've installed several programs to this area already.

So my question is this, can I use the Built In Storage memory just as handily as the main storage memory? Or should I avoid using this area at all?

Thanks for any help.

I don't know about the mystery space being used in your built in storage but it is just as handy as your storage card, It may even be faster. So go ahead and use it.
<_< My X5 only has like 6 meg of built in storage.

I think that that space is leftover from the ROM that has your Windows files (the ones that don't go away after a hard reset). Go ahead and use it.

Yes you can use it like main memory. Also, anything that is in built-in storage will NOT be lost in the event of a hard reset.

Just so you know, programs can be installed on internal storage OR cards, as well as main memory.
