PalmGear attempts to re-assert leadership

PalmGear, the software and accessories retailer synonymous with the Palm Economy, is seeking to re-assert its leadership in the market after a turbulent period of management change and legal battles. The company was one of the first to offer electronic sales of Palm OS software and its web-site grew into one of the most popular destinations for Palm users and developers.
However, PalmGear's development was constrained by the financial impact of a law suit brought against it by one of the key investors in rival venture Handango. Although the suit was eventually settled in PalmGear's favour in 2001, the ongoing action prevented PalmGear from raising venture capital, paying some of its partners and coincided with the loss of key affiliate deals with Palm and Handspring.
