Hi Drifter
I have an axim x5, and am looking to get a CF gps receiver, and hopefully tomtom 6. My X5 is running pocket pc 2002. From above it sounds like you have had success with TT6 and the X5, but will I need to upgrade to PP 2003? And do you have any suggestions for a compatible CF gps receiver?
A GPS virgin, and new Aximuser member!
Tom

Hi Tom.
I cannot comment on PPC2002 as when I get an x5 , I automatically upgrade to PPC2003. However their is no reason why it should not work.
If you choose to upgrade, search this forum or Ebay and I am sure their are a few links to downloading the upgrade. Obviously Aximusers cannot support illegal downloads but as Dell do not seem to want to offer to even sell this important upgrade, their seems little other choice for users to get full use from Dell axims.
You need to make sure that you do install the CF timing upgrade as this is important for the CF GPS to work correctly.
Regarding the CF GPS card. I've had no real problems with any of the cards I've owned or tested.
I do know from personal experience that the CF cards from the following manufacturers work
Globalsat
Haicom
Rikaline
Xtrac 2
Holux
I would look to Ebay and choose a card that matches your needs.
For what it is worth, if you can afford it the Globalsat 337 being offered on ebay at present is a good buy. Not the cheapest, but being SiRF III, it will receive a better signal that an SiRF II unit. It is also listed as compatible with the x5

Sorry, I cannot help on that one. Did you down load TomTom 6 seperately ???.
I did see the TomTom upgrade offer and was very dissapointed. I ended up buying a new software from them as the price difference was so small.
However, I was very confused by the offer as it said that the maps work with both TT5 and TT6 but then informed me that if I ordered I got an upgrade to TT6... Very confusing.
Have you reset your axim after installation ?
Also how are you checking that V6 is installed and on what axim.
Thanks

Hope you can help
I have just posted a new thread to try to get my tomtom6 working on my X5, but everytime I try to run it I get no voices and the message 'maps not found'. I bought tomtom6 on an SD Card and it seemed to install ok.
Can you help please.

Working Fine Now
I can confirm that I used the files that Drifter sent to me and my TT6 is working fine now on my X5. I can also confirm that I am totally legal, having bought the licenced software and have activiated with Tomtom.
I have waited two weeks for Tomtom to answer my support call, but Drifter fixed my problem in 1 email.
