The reason my ROM file install failed the first time copying to the PDA was because the PC mysteriously rebooted. I walked out of the room while it was copying and when I came back it was booting up. I also had the hard reset problem, continuing the ROM upgrade without flashing was OK for me. Hope this helps!

What is the "USB to PC" functionality in ROM A12?
I fount it in Start-Settings-Connections.
What does it do?

The USB to PC function says it disables advanced network functionality. It might help people with firewall/USB hub/other sync issues.

Does anybody notice the unit seems overall faster with this ROM upgrade? It's not my imagination.

My X51v is incredibly faster since the ROM update. Took me a little while to get things straightened up and get all my programs back onto it. But all in all the PPC is running like hell now, not that I had any complaints before, but it's a lot better.

Well, I just recently picked up an x50....I had trouble getting it to sync and after talking with tech support, he had me download the activesync 4.2 build...well, it has issues...

Eventually, he decided I had a problem with the connector on the bottom and they sent me a new x50...I downloaded the rom update into both the old one and the new one....the x50 upgrade was flawless...in both times, it was quick, uneventful and complete....but when I did the x51v upgrade, it took several hard resets and pc reboots before the sync was working again.

And dont get the activesync update yet because it has issues.

I finally updated A12 went great no problems and my X51 runs great and notice more speed.

My PC "Blue Screened" the first time it tried to copy the new image file to the X51v. With all the warnings about not using the PC etc during the upgrade I feared the worse (half written image file to the X51v). The only thing that would clear the upgrade screen on the pda was a hard reset again, and luckily my original image was still then and in tact.

The second time I tried (sadistic I know), I turned off all the firewall, antispyware, anti virus software and just about everything else I could.
This time the update when seemlessly.

I notice active sync is running permanently now, but it does not seem to eat the battery after being off charge for 24 hours now.
