Dell release ROM A06 for the X51 range

So, to sum up what I have read on this posting:
1. A06 is a recommended update (and I don't mean Dell recommended)
2. I will have to reinstall all of my apps.
3. I will have to reset all of my personal settings
4. I will have to re-sync to both my home and work desktops

Several questions then -
1. If I keep the same "Owner" name will activesync "re-connect" to my desktop files in a safe way?
2. What do I have to do to protect my "sync'ed" files on my desktops from total distruction during this upgtrade?
3. Any last advise, anything else I should be aware of?

And then serveral other questions before I take the big plunge :
1. Since I will be reinstalling everything!, which memory card is better to use, SD or CF, ie power consumption, speed, etc.
2. Having not had a memory card, do the app install programs always give you the option to locate the apps on the memory cards?

All help gladly accepted.

Yes. Activesync (Add/Remove Program) remembers what you have installed before. It is very handy ... only takes a few minutes.

Yes. You're getting a brand new toy. Lucky you.

You've 3 options:
a. If your DeviceID is the same, it will recognize your partnership & sync to "yourAximName My Document''.
b. You can delete the partnership & sync as new.
c. Sync as guest.

Other questions:

Yes, see #4a above.

Backup your desktop folder for additional precautions ... copy the whole folder to somewhere else (yourAximName My Document).

Stop all programs on both your desktop & your Axim.
Make sure you have power to the cradle.
Apply the Fake Exchange Server Trick.

SD w/ FAT16 (prefer) or FAT32 format is fine. FAT32 allow mirrored fat (for data recovery) but makes read/write "slower". Keep the SD in the slot all the time, don't have to remove it.

Yes, you get the option just before you install.

Within a few minutes you got a new toy ... better.

That's only one major reason I'm glad I waited to buy an Axim until this upgrade. Windows Mobile 5 seems very promising, and I hope Dell and Microsoft don't drop this for the "next big thing"; WM5 may, in fact, be the real next big thing.
