With its crisp graphics, a Microsoft operating system that's familiar to Windows users and a price tag under $300, there's a lot to like when it comes to the new Dell Axim X5 Handheld.

The palm-sized computer, Dell's first foray into the world of personal digital assistants, is designed to best veteran competitors such as Palm and Hewlett-Packard. The effort succeeds when it comes to cost and applications, but some design issues could use fine-tuning.

Thanks for the link. I was ready to buy an Axim last week, but after some research decided to wait. This article reinforces my decision. It's a great product, but I think by September there will be even better choices on the market (from Dell or others), and I've taken the hit as an early adopter too many times to continue.

At the $300 price, I wouldn't consider getting an Axim a risk, or consider yourself an early adopter. The pocket PC platform has been out for what, 3 years now??

I got it for the price and DeLL products, but I would do it again, there will always be something newer if you wait.
