ROM Update for Dell Axim X30

Thanks, dude55, for this information.

It seems that as of 10/14/04, Dell has released a new ROM update for the Dell Axim X30, 312 and 624MHz version.

System update for Axim X30 312MHz & 624MHz (802.11b Wireless LAN & Bluetooth) and Axim X30 312MHz (non-wireless) configurations. The previous version of the system was A00/A02/A03. The version for this update is A05.

Well,

I followed all the instructions, backed up my Ax and my old rom and now media player on my Ax does not work. I have not been able to test the Wireless and other 'fixes' to see if they are broke :angry: . I dont even know where to start with Dell to see what the deal is. I think that when I get home this evening, I will re-upgrade the rom and start WMPlayer before restoring my backup to see if that is the issue.

In case anyone is interested....I have an X30 High.

I had the same problem. May have to go back to previous version. Has anyone heard of a workaround?

My media player stopped at loading at the skins part after updating. From the Dell user's forum this is a problem with others. Work around so far is a hard reset of the axim. I tried it and media player started working. Doing a restore now of my data back to axim. I don't know yet if this will affect it again. What a hassle. Makes you wonder if Dell tested any of this upgrade.


It seems that the restore has hosed WMP again. Stopping at the searching for skins spot. I guess a hard reset and manual reload of data/programs is in order, unless Dell/Microsoft comes out with a patch or something. Oh, the joys of a PDA.

I got same problem with Windows Media after upgraded the new Rom. Is there anyone can hepl me to fix the problem
