HTC reportedly regains iPAQ orders
(02/11/2003)
High Tech Computer (HTC) recovered wireless iPAQ PDA orders from Hewlett-Packard (HP) in the second half of last year that it had lost to LG Electronics (LGE) in 2001, according to the Chinese-language Commercial Times.
The iPAQ4, featuring GPRS technology and a Microsoft operating system, will be a brand new design different from the XDA wireless PDAs that HTC makes for Siemens and mmO2, a British wireless service provider. Volume production is slated to begin in the second half, the newspaper reported.
According to the report, LGE was unable to keep the HP order because it lacks the technology needed to develop the mobile device.
HTC also makes iPAQ Pocket PCs (H3 series), Bluetooth-enabled wireless PDAs (H5 series) and H1910s for HP
