Microsoft Pocket PC phone to launch in Switzerland

Mobile operator Swisscom Mobile will introduce U.S. software maker Microsoft's Pocket PC Phone Edition operating system on pocket PCs with integrated GPRS mobile phones in Switzerland.
The operator will provide the Microsoft operating system under the name Qtek 1010, at a price of 1,298 Swiss francs ($953/888 euro) excluding subscription.
The Pocket PC Phone Edition operated pocket PC combines an electronic organiser with applications including Pocket Excel and Pocket Word and a dualband General Packet Radio System (GPRS) mobile phone with large thin-film transistor (TFT) touch screen.
Microsoft Pocket PC Phone Edition operating system allows data exchange and synchronisation of e-mails, contacts and calendar entries. The user interface of the Qtek 1010 has been specially adapted for Swisscom Mobile customers and allows mobile access to the Internet and SMS messaging.
Swisscom Mobile is co-operating with Microsoft to develop further applications based on the Pocket PC Phone Edition operating system for the Swiss market. </span>
